Sanger High School won the Gonder Award for CMAC Athletic Supremacy for the 2023-2024 school year. This marks the seventh time in eight years that the Apaches have led the CMAC in overall athletic success. The Gonder Award is determined by a point system in which more points are awarded for higher placement in the CMAC standings in each sport. Sanger High had not won the Gonder Award until the 2016-2017 school year and now has earned the honor in each succeeding year with the exception of the 2017-2018 school year. The Apaches won the award this year in large part by taking home a school record 15 CMAC titles and also competing in a school record 18 Central Section Division I postseasons. The award is a tribute to the hard work and preparation put in by the approximately 800 student athletes on campus. The CMAC is comprised of six schools, including Bullard, Edison, Garza, Madera, and San Joaquin Memorial High Schools.
